Who is Brookelyn Livanec?
A small town girl with big dreams.
How did your softball journey begin?
My mom knew how outgoing I was and decided to try out all sports. I decided I loved softball the most so I dedicated my life to softball since I was 4 years old w/ many hours spent on the field, in my yard, the cages, etc.
What are your greatest strengths as a softball player?
Knowledge. You have to know the basics and what to do when your put into situations. You don’t have all day or a second to think you do it as it happens and you have to know before the ball is pitched and Hitting. As soon as I step foot in the box my confidence is there. You can put me into a 0-2 count a 3-2 count whatever count you want and it won’t pressure me at all because my confidence and love for hitting is just there. I love to hit it’s my favorite part of the game.
What kind of hitter are you and what are your most recent offensive stats?
Through the younger years up until the last 2 years I slapped. I was always the small, skinny, little one but that changed I shot up in a blink of an eye. Now I hit away for power 99% of the time. I grew up mostly batting as a lead-off but recently I have moved up and down in the lineups due to being able to power hit/gap shot/slap. I typically go deep in counts and usually at the end of an at bat you will see me somewhere on a base. This past weekend was the kick off to our high school season and I finished with a batting average of .833 and OBP of .869.

Holding one Accountable and creating Positive Energy.

You’re obviously very busy with so many activities and events in your life. How do you balance your life and manage your time so effectively?
I have a daily routine. I prioritize the things that need to to be done before hanging out with friends, family, boyfriend and going places. I get up go to school, come home hit for an hour everyday. I will throw long toss and do every days for Outfield. After that’s done I have the evening to myself and I am free. Then I wake up and do it all again.
Describe your game day mental preparation and your thought process and mindset on the field and in the batters box.
I like to think to my self before anything but if you know me I am very sociable. I pray that I do good and manifest it before I get to the fields. Once I am at the fields I stay ready to go and hyped with my teammates. I don’t like going into a game or anything in general with negative energy because the outcome of it is worse than if you tried to be positive. I like listening to music and dancing around before a game with my teammates but also preparing myself with all seriousness. Stepping in a box I block everything out. I get the sign from my coach and take a deep breath and do an extension and full swing. Nothing is going through my mind other than me saying “do what you know how to do” and that’s being on base at the end of an at bat.
What is your favorite sports memory and greatest achievement?
My favorite sports memory and achievement is hands down going to State and winning 5A State Championship title. The feeling being there was the best feeling you could have. It’s not something every athlete experiences. You have to want to put in work to get to that point.
5A Softball State & National Champions
How do you handle adversity and even failure?
Usually when I fail, I become quiet or embarrassed as most athletes would say. I usually ask a teammate or coach what I should have done better in the situation so that next time I can improve. After the play is done I move forward and put it in the past and focus on it the next practice. Hitting helps a lot when I fail because I love to hit so it gets me excited after waiting a while line up to hit again. If I fail hitting , it doesn’t bother me at all because i know it will happen and my next at bat I will be just fine. I wont carry it past those 5 seconds or onto the field.
How would your teammates and friends describe you?
My teammates and friends would describe me as fierce, bubbly, and independent.
Who is your role-model and or idol and why?
I don’t really have a role model that I look up too. If anything I would say my future self. I ask myself what would I do in the future. I have big dreams of what I want to become and I know as my present self I set myself up for the future. I want to have a nursing degree as a collegiate athlete. Leading up to that there’s a lot going into it so I plan and prepare myself for the high standards I have of my self or see how i will be in the near future.

If you could spend a day with any softball player, former or current, who would it be and why?
Haley Cruse, I follow her on most platforms of social media and she seems to be similar to the person I am. She seems so fun to be with and we both have the same goals.
What is your softball dream/goal?
My dream goal in the end is to play D1 Softball with awards and a degree.

Describe your perfect softball team.
A perfect softball team for me would one obviously be lots of talent. I want to be on a team who is competitive and likes to win. I want the chemistry between teammates to be full of positive energy and fun. I hate drama. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves so if there’s a bad connection I don’t want to be in between it because I get along with my teammates well.
When deciding on what college team to play for what are the most important things you’re looking for?
I wouldn’t turn anything down when it comes to paying for your school but it may not be my first option. I prefer to say in the Southern States where we got Sweet tea. I’m not a fan of the cold weather and want to be in a good D1 conference. Lastly as I said above I want good team chemistry with lots of fun and positive energy.
What gets you hyped or ready before a game?
Music, Dancing, Talking to teammates. One of my favorite things is the warm up on the field before coaches are called to the plate. I love running around making clean plays and showcasing my speed and arm.
What is your favorite jersey number and why did you choose it?
#3 or #27 are my two favorite numbers. Ever since I was little those have been my favorite and go to numbers. You ask why and that’s a question I don’t have an answer too. But my birthday and my moms birthday is the 3rd of July and I like how the numbers look on a jersey.
What other hobbies do you have to balance out softball and your personal life?
I love to spend time with friends, I’m an extremely outgoing person. I don’t like to stay at home I like to stay on the go as my momma would say “running the roads”. You can ask me if I will go somewhere with you and most likely I will go. I also spend lots of time with my family at the deer lease for hunting season.

Who would you like to thank for your softball achievements and support?
Lastly, I would like to thank my mom, who has raised me and my brother as a single mom managing to travel me around the country to follow my dream. My grandparents for always being there when I need them, times my mom is working and can’t get off my grandparents will step up and take me where I need to be. Kirk Hall, he has made me the athlete I am today. I have been coached and given lessons every week for 9 years. He has pushed me to be the best and the producer of the athlete I am today. I would thank anyone else who has supported me along the way to follow my end goal.
